The Ultimate Solution for Messy Moments

Life's messy. That's the point.

If you've ever watched your toddler gleefully tip a bowl of porridge onto the floor, you know the feeling: part pride at their confidence, part exhaustion, part desperate wish for a faster clean-up.

That's why Studio Huske mats exist. Not to stop the mess (that's not the goal) but to make it completely irrelevant. Wipe, done, move on.

Why most mats fall short

  • Fabric play mats go straight in the washing machine. After a dozen washes, the edges fray, the print fades, and you're back to square one.
  • EVA foam mats are lightweight and cheap, but they absorb liquids, are near-impossible to fully clean, and can off-gas formamide, a compound not classified as safe for babies to mouth-chew and crawl on.
  • Vinyl mats are hardwearing but stiff and heavy. They don't fold, they crack in the cold, and they rarely look at home in a modern living room.

All three share the same flaw: they're temporary. You replace them, and then replace them again.

A different kind of mat

Studio Huske mats are made from 100% silicone: no PVC, no BPA, no EVA foam, no phthalates. Here's the full material story.

The practical difference? A spill is a ten-second job. Yoghurt, paint, clay, soil: a damp cloth lifts it all. No machine wash needed. No waiting for it to dry.

OEKO-TEX Class I certified, which is the highest safety tier: independently tested and confirmed safe for babies from birth, including skin and mouth contact. Designed in Switzerland, and built to last. Kate, who founded Studio Huske, has mats from 2021 that still look new.

More uses than you'd expect

Our silicone play mats are used:

  • Under high chairs, to catch every dropped piece of food
  • As surfaces for baby-led weaning, messy play, and sensory activities
  • In daycares, playgroups, and children's cafes
  • On the go: they fold flat and roll without cracking or creasing permanently
  • Outdoors, on grass, on sand, on any surface you'd rather not sit directly on
  • In nappy-free time, where wipe-clean matters most

The range runs from compact round and square formats for defined spaces, through to extra-large mats for older toddlers who need room to move. Browse all formats here.

Honest about the trade-offs

Silicone shows dust and pet hair more visibly than fabric mats do. The fix is a quick damp wipe, still faster than washing a fabric mat, but worth knowing in advance.

It's also a premium product at a premium price. The argument for it: one good mat, bought once, replaces three or four cheaper alternatives over the same period. Silicone doesn't degrade the way foam and fabric do. Most Studio Huske owners describe it as the last mat they ever bought.
