Wipe with a damp cloth for daily use. For a full reset, submerge in the sink. The textured underside catches dust over time and a soak clears it. Mild soap is fine. No bleach. Machine wash on the gentlest cycle (wool/delicates) works, but hand-wash is better for the mat long-term.

What this mat is made of

This is silicone leather. Not PU. Not PVC. Not vinyl. Not the "vegan leather" that peels after 18 months.

Silicone leather is made from quartz sand, bonded to a fibre fabric. The surface is 100% silicone, the same grade used in infant pacifiers. It doesn’t off-gas, doesn’t absorb liquids, doesn’t harbour mould. Hot pans and baking trays can sit on it. It won’t crack or fade if left outside in cold or sun, and stain-resistant to food, paint, adhesives, and sunscreen.

For an outdoor mat, that last point matters. Sunscreen is the #1 permanent stain on picnic blankets and PU leather mats. Silicone leather resists it.

Certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1. That’s the strictest class in the OEKO-TEX system, designed specifically for products that touch baby skin.

Two sides, two jobs

Smooth side up. Grip side down. The underside grips grass and floors so the mat stays flat. On the beach, flip it: smooth side down so sand doesn’t stick to the grip texture. Two colours, two functions.

Things worth knowing

149 CHF pour un tapis.

Si tu l'utilises tous les jours pendant deux ans, ça revient à environ 20 rappen par jour. Une couverture de pique-nique coûte 40 CHF, absorbe l'humidité, doit être lavée après chaque utilisation et ne dure peut-être que deux saisons. Celle-ci dure plus longtemps que toutes les autres et ne passe jamais à la machine à laver.

Il pèse 1,1 kg. C'est plus lourd qu'une couverture.

À peu près le poids d'une bouteille d'eau. C'est ce poids qui lui permet de rester à plat sur l'herbe et qui l'empêche de s'envoler au vent. Un tapis plus léger se plierait et se retournerait. Avec ses 1,1 kg, il reste là où tu le poses.

Il arrive avec des lignes de pliage.

C'est le cas de tous les tapis pliés. Pose-le à plat et utilise-le. Les plis s'estompent au fur et à mesure que tu l'utilises. Quelques pique-niques au parc et ils auront disparu.

Un client n'a pas pu juger de la taille à partir des photos.

C'est un commentaire pertinent. Un diamètre de 135 cm correspond à peu près à la largeur d'un lit simple. Deux adultes et un enfant peuvent s'y asseoir confortablement. On essaie de trouver un meilleur angle pour les photos.

Le côté antidérapant n'était pas évident d'après l'annonce.

À noter : le côté lisse est tourné vers le haut (la surface sur laquelle tu t'assois). Le côté texturé est tourné vers le bas (pour adhérer au sol). Deux couleurs, deux côtés, deux fonctions. Non réversible. À la plage, retourne-le pour éviter que le sable ne s'accumule dans la texture antidérapante.

Care instructions

After outdoor use: Shake off debris, wipe with a damp cloth. Sand falls right off.

Stubborn marks: Gentle soap and water.

Deep clean: Hand-wash gently. You can machine wash on your most gentle cycle (wool/delicates), but for maximum longevity, hand-wash.

Heat-proof: You can iron on it, place hot baking trays on it, use it as a surface for anything household-hot. The only exception: red-hot coals (BBQ embers) will burn through.

Do not: Dishwasher. High heat + food residue can coat the silicone surface with a film. If someone puts it in the dishwasher by mistake: submerge the mat in a pot of gently boiled water with washing-up liquid for 30 minutes, then rinse. The film lifts off.

Storage: Roll rather than fold to minimise creasing. Fine to store it damp for daily use, or leave it in the pram basket. For longer storage, let it dry fully first.

Non-slip side: Always faces down (grips grass and floors). At the beach, flip it: smooth side down so sand doesn’t catch in the grip texture. If sand or dirt does get in the grip side, submerge the mat in water. Everything releases instantly. Much quicker than wiping.

How big is 135 cm, really?
About the width of a single bed. Two adults and a child sit on it comfortably. It fits in the boot of a small car, folded.

Does sand stick to it?
Sand falls right off the smooth silicone surface. On the beach, flip the mat so the smooth side faces down (preventing sand from catching in the grip texture).

Is it waterproof on both sides?
