Waterproof Round Baby Play Mat, Silicone Leather, Indoor & Outdoor, OEKO-TEX, Ø 135 cm, Explore

A picnic blanket costs CHF 40, absorbs moisture, needs washing after every use, and lasts maybe two seasons. This one outlasts all of them and rarely needs more than a damp cloth.

About the weight of a water bottle. That weight is what keeps it flat on grass and stops it blowing away in the wind. A lighter mat would fold and flip. At 1.1 kg, it stays where you put it.

All folded mats do. Lay it flat and use it. The creases fade as you use it. A few park picnics and they’re gone.

Fair feedback. 135 cm diameter is about the size of a round dining table for six. Two adults and a child sit comfortably.

Noted and fixed here: smooth side faces up (the surface you sit on). Textured side faces down (grips the ground). Two colours, two sides, two functions. The grip is not a separate backing: it’s the same silicone, just textured instead of smooth.

One customer reported a circular colour change on their floor. That is one report and I have not worked out the cause. If your floor is sealed or lacquered, lift the mat now and then rather than leaving it in one spot for months.

No screen shows it exactly. The colour you live with is the smooth side that faces up. If it arrives and it is not what you pictured, it goes back within 60 days, clean, undamaged and in its original packaging.

After outdoor use: Shake off debris, wipe with a damp cloth.

Stubborn marks: Gentle soap and water.

Deep clean: Hand-wash gently, which is best for the mat long term. A gentle machine cycle (wool/delicates) also works, but the less it goes in the machine, the better. Never put it in with heavily soiled laundry.

Heat-proof: You can iron on it, place hot baking trays on it, use it as a surface for anything household-hot. The only exception: red-hot coals (BBQ embers) will burn through.

Do not: Dishwasher. High heat + food residue can coat the silicone surface with a film. If someone puts it in the dishwasher by mistake: submerge the mat in a pot of gently boiled water with washing-up liquid for 30 minutes, then rinse. The film lifts off.

Storage: In daily use, damp is fine as long as it is clean. For long-term storage, treat it like camping gear and store it dry.

Non-slip side: Always faces down (grips grass and floors). At the beach, flip it: smooth side down so sand doesn’t catch in the grip texture. If sand or dirt does get in the grip side, submerge the mat in water. Everything releases instantly. Much quicker than wiping.

Every Studio Huske mat is 0.7 mm thick. It won't cushion a fall the way a foam mat does, but it isn't hard like vinyl either: it feels soft underfoot and warm to the touch, and the leather-like grain is lovely to run a hand over. Being thin is what lets it fold into a bag or drape over the edge of a table, and it is tougher than the number suggests: the material is tested to 20,000 abrasion cycles. If a baby on a hard floor needs something softer underneath, lay the mat over a thin rug.

The same silicone as the top surface, finished with a texture so it grips instead of sliding. There is no rubber backing, no PU layer and no separate anti-slip coating. Smooth side up, grip side down.

Yes. The mats were produced and certified under OEKO-TEX Standard 100/1. That's the strictest class, written for baby products, including the ones that end up in a mouth. In the lab, the material was checked for harmful substances such as phthalates, formaldehyde, heavy metals and bisphenols, and every result came in under the limit. It was also independently tested for more than 30 PFAS compounds, and none were detected.

How big is 135 cm, really?
About the size of a round dining table for six. Two adults and a child sit on it comfortably. It fits in the boot of a small car, folded.

Does sand stick to it?
Sand falls right off the smooth silicone surface.

Is it waterproof on both sides?
Yes. Both the smooth surface and the grip underside repel moisture. Grass dew, spilt drinks, damp ground. Nothing soaks through.

Will it blow away in wind?
At 1.1 kg it stays put in normal conditions. In strong wind, weigh down the edges with bags or shoes, as you would with any picnic surface.

Can I use it indoors too?
Yes. Many customers use it as a living room play surface, a large craft mat, or a table protector. The design-conscious colours mean it doesn’t look like outdoor gear sitting on your floor.

Is it safe for babies to lie on?
OEKO-TEX Standard 100/1. Tested for harmful substances, safe for direct contact with baby skin.

Do the mats contain PFAS?
The finished fabric was independently tested for total fluorine and more than 30 individual PFAS compounds in the most recent testing round, none detected. Across two years of laboratory reports, not one individual PFAS compound has been detected. No test can prove an absolute, so the full numbers are published in the PFAS lab results article.
