About the brand
Studio Huske was founded in 2021 by Kate Gannon, an architect by training. She started it after failing to find a mat that suited a family home and an adult one. The foam tiles she found were outgrown within months.
The mats are flat, single-piece, and quiet enough to live on a kitchen table and light enough to take to the beach. The brand was built around mats that work indoors and outdoors.
What makes the material different
Silicone leather is a silicone coating on a knitted polyester base. Not polyurethane, not foam. The mats are designed in Switzerland and made in Korea, and the surface is produced and certified under OEKO-TEX Standard 100/1, the tier written for products in direct contact with babies. No PVC, no BPA, no phthalates, no formamide, no off-gassing. Non-porous, so liquids sit on the surface instead of soaking in.

Kate Gannon
Kate Gannon is the founder and sole operator of Studio Huske. Architect by training, Irish-born, mother of two, based in Uster near Zurich. She has used Studio Huske mats in daily family life since the 2021 launch.
I could not find a high quality waterproof mat anywhere, so I designed one.

So far our mats have been battered with acrylic paint, spray paint, concrete, plaster, and every glitter and craft glue possible, and so far the mat has wiped clean perfectly every time.
We used it at the beach and in the park. It is much more pleasant to sit on than blanket or towel. Very easy to clean!
