Which of the two sizes should I get?
The Explore is 135 cm round and works as one generous play area indoors or a single picnic base. The Gallivant XL is 135 by 180 cm, which is the one to pick for two children, a full picnic spread, or covering more floor in a living room.
Does it get hot in the sun, and will it harm the grass?
The mat warms a little in the sun like anything left outside. The material is heat resistant so that does it no harm, and the grass underneath will not burn.
How small does it pack down?
The Explore weighs 1.1 kg and the Gallivant XL 1.9 kg. Both fold flat rather than rolling into a bulky tube, and the fold lines relax with use instead of setting into permanent creases.
Will damp ground come through it?
No. The surface is waterproof, so dew or a damp lawn stays underneath. Shake it off and wipe it down before it goes back in the bag.
Do these work indoors, or are they only for outside?
