Yes. Many outdoor pools ban standard waterproof mats because the backing traps heat and scorches the grass. Air can pass between the mat and the grass underneath, so it won’t scorch the grass. No burnt rectangles, no awkward conversations with the lifeguard.

After outdoor use: Shake off debris, wipe with a damp cloth. Sand falls right off.

After table use: Wipe with a damp cloth or wet wipe.

Stubborn marks: Gentle soap and water.

Deep clean: Hand-wash gently. You can machine wash on your most gentle cycle (wool/delicates), but for maximum longevity, hand-wash.

Heat-proof: You can iron on it, place hot baking trays on it, use it as a surface for anything household-hot. The only exception: red-hot coals (BBQ embers) will burn through.

Do not: Dishwasher. High heat + food residue can coat the silicone surface with a film. If someone puts it in the dishwasher by mistake: submerge the mat in a pot of gently boiled water with washing-up liquid for 30 minutes, then rinse. The film lifts off.

Storage: Roll rather than fold to minimise creasing. Fine to store it damp for daily use. For longer storage, let it dry fully first.

Non-slip side: Usually faces down (grips tables and floors). At the beach, flip it: smooth side down so sand doesn't catch in the grip texture. Will collect dust and hair on floors. That's it gripping. The fastest way to clean the grip side: submerge the mat in water. Everything releases instantly. Much quicker than wiping.

Will it protect my dining table?

Do the mats contain PFAS?
The finished fabric was independently tested for total fluorine and more than 30 individual PFAS compounds in the most recent testing round, none detected.
