Put it down and any surface becomes ready for whatever the day brings. Indoors, outdoors, planned or improvised. One mat for all of it.
At 135 × 180 cm it seats a family of four with room for the food, the project, and the chaos around both. Folds in two directions. Compact enough for a bag or the boot of the car. At 1.9 kg it’s the heaviest mat in the range. That’s the trade-off for this much surface.
CHF 178 for the largest mat in the range. Five years of daily use, under 10 Rappen a day.

"The Huske mats have been a life saving add on to our life as parents. We use them for pretty much everything — diaper changing, place mat, THE place to colour, for play dough, for picnics. Really recommend them to everyone having kids, even though they're really handy for adults as well!"

"My kids, and there are three of them, love to paint and build stuff, and my table, which is American cherry wood, thanks me every second I have this mat on." That's a real review. As an extra large play mat, the Gallivant covers a full dining table. Paint, playdough, baking flour, homework, dinner. It handles whatever the day requires. The silicone leather surface and muted colours mean it looks like furniture, not a cover-up. Several families leave it on the table permanently. It protects the surface so the family can just use it.
One parent in Belgium bought the Gallivant specifically for nappy-free time in a small apartment: "I use it to let my baby lie and roll naked on top of the carpet. He loves it. It is easy to clean and does not feel cold." Waterproof, wipeable, OEKO-TEX Class 1. The carpet stays dry.

One family used it to make mountains of sand with "rivers that flow to the sea." Another takes it camping. A third hasn't removed it from the car since they bought it. At 135 × 180 cm, this family picnic mat seats four with room for the food. Sand shakes off the silicone surface. Sun cream is one of those things that ruins every other surface. On silicone leather, it wipes off and leaves nothing behind. Nothing soaks through from the grass underneath. When you get home, there's no wringing, no laundry, no hanging it over a chair to dry. Fold it, bag it, done. The best product review in the range says it simply: "Perfect for camping with kids."

One parent told us their daughter “gets excited when she sees the mats come out because she knows something good is about to happen.” The Gallivant rolling out IS the signal. Picnic time. Art time. Family time. It’s the mat that makes the ambitious project possible. The one where everyone paints together, or bakes together, or builds something together. Nobody’s holding back. Nobody’s saying “careful.” The mess is part of it, and for once that’s fine.

This is silicone leather. Not PU. Not PVC. Not vinyl. Not the "vegan leather" that peels after 18 months.
Silicone leather is made from quartz sand, bonded to a fibre fabric. The surface is 100% silicone, the same grade used in infant pacifiers. It doesn't off-gas, doesn't absorb liquids, doesn't harbour mould. It's heat-proof, won't crack or fade if left outside in cold or sun, and stain-resistant to food, paint, adhesives, and sunscreen.
At this size, the material has to do everything. Survive a beach, protect a table worth thousands, look good in a living room, fold into a bag. Silicone leather is the only material that crosses that indoor-outdoor boundary without compromise.
Certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1. Safe for direct contact with baby skin.
Two sides, two jobs
Smooth side up. Grip side down. The underside grips your surface so the mat stays flat, even when three children are painting on it. On the beach, flip it: smooth side down so sand doesn't catch in the grip texture. Two colours, two functions.
| Silicone leather (Huske) | Picnic blankets | PU “vegan leather” | |

| How long it lasts | 5+ years, no replacement needed | 1-2 seasons before staining and smell | 18-24 months before peeling and cracking |

It is. It's also the last one you'll buy. It covers a dining table worth thousands. Used three times a week for two years, that's 57 Rappen per use. The picnic blankets you'd replace every season cost more over the same period.
Substantial enough to stay flat on grass, stable enough that three children can't shift it. One reviewer said they wouldn't take it to the Badi (outdoor pool) for a quick dip. Fair. This is the mat for planned outings, not spontaneous ones. For something lighter, the Explore (1.1 kg) is more grab-and-go.
All folded mats do. Lay it flat and use it. The creases fade as you use it. A few family dinners and they're gone.
That's the non-slip side doing its job. Smooth side faces up (the surface you use). Grip side faces down (holds the mat in place). If you're using it on a floor long-term, clean the underside periodically. It's working, not broken.
Lilac/Red and Beige/Wine. The flagship size has the most curated palette. Both are neutral enough for permanent table use and bold enough for outdoor visibility.
Yes. Many outdoor pools ban standard waterproof mats because the backing traps heat and scorches the grass. This mat is heat-resistant. No burnt rectangles, no awkward conversations with the lifeguard.
The Gallivant is the biggest mat in the range. Here’s how all five compare.

When a family buys the Gallivant, they usually know us already. It is the mat people move to once the living room floor is not big enough and the garden starts getting used. The average gap between first and second purchase is seven months. That tends to be about how long it takes.
The Gallivant is the biggest mat in the range. An Explore pairs well for the living room, while a Roam Square covers the dining area or a smaller play space.
134 cm round. The indoor-outdoor mat for floor play and picnics. Lighter at 1.1 kg for grab-and-go days.
98 × 98 cm. The craft table protector. Paint, playdough, homework, baking. Square corners, full coverage.

Nappy-free time: waterproof, OEKO-TEX Class 1. Baby rolls free on a clean, warm surface. The floor stays dry.
Bike maintenance: cleaning bikes inside the house, 2 metres from the kids. Oil, grease, tyre marks wipe off.
Car boot liner: muddy dog, sandy beach gear, wet swimming stuff. Fold it in, fold it out, hose it off.
Floor protector for wet buggies: rainy day, buggy comes inside. Mat goes down first.
Room service protector: eating on a hotel bed? Mat goes down. Crumbs, sauce, juice. Not on the sheets.
Event tablecloth: birthday parties, BBQs, craft tables. Covers a full dining table. Wipes clean when the guests leave.
After outdoor use: Shake off debris, wipe with a damp cloth. Sand falls right off.
After table use: Wipe with a damp cloth or wet wipe.
Stubborn marks: Gentle soap and water.
Deep clean: Hand-wash gently. You can machine wash on your most gentle cycle (wool/delicates), but for maximum longevity, hand-wash.
Heat-proof: You can iron on it, place hot baking trays on it, use it as a surface for anything household-hot. The only exception: red-hot coals (BBQ embers) will burn through.
Do not: Dishwasher. High heat + food residue can coat the silicone surface with a film. If someone puts it in the dishwasher by mistake: submerge the mat in a pot of gently boiled water with washing-up liquid for 30 minutes, then rinse. The film lifts off.
Storage: Roll rather than fold to minimise creasing. Fine to store it damp for daily use. For longer storage, let it dry fully first.
Non-slip side: Usually faces down (grips tables and floors). At the beach, flip it: smooth side down so sand doesn't catch in the grip texture. The grip side collects dust and hair on floors. That's normal. To clean it, submerge the mat in water: the ocean, a sink, or a bathtub. Everything releases instantly. Submerging and rinsing is the proper cleaning method for the grip side, not wiping.
How big is 135 × 180 cm, really?
About the size of a single bed, plus 45 cm. Four people sit comfortably with room for a picnic or art supplies. It covers a standard 4-person dining table.
Will it protect my dining table?
Yes. The non-slip underside grips without scratching. No chemical adhesives, no suction cups. Just the grip texture holding it in place.
Is it too heavy for the beach?
At 1.9 kg it's heavier than a towel but lighter than most picnic setups. It folds into a tote bag. One reviewer takes it camping. Another said it might be too heavy for a quick Badi trip. Depends on your tolerance.
Can adults use it too?
Absolutely. One reviewer specifically noted that it's "really handy for adults as well." Customers have used them as desk mats, under sewing machines, and even as bike-cleaning surfaces.
Is it safe for babies?
OEKO-TEX Class 1. Tested for harmful substances, safe for direct contact with baby skin. One customer uses it for their baby to lie and roll on.
Does it smell?
No. Silicone leather is VOC-free. No chemical smell, even at this size.
