Most play mats stay indoors. These do not. Studio Huske outdoor play mats are silicone leather: waterproof on both sides, UV resistant, and sunscreen wipes off.
The Explore (135 cm round, 1.1 kg) is your floor mat during the week and your picnic mat at the weekend. The Gallivant (135 x 180 cm, 1.9 kg) seats a family of four with the dog. Both fold: flat, they fit in any bag and weigh little enough for the walk there.
After the beach: shake off the sand (it falls straight off silicone leather), rinse under the tap, fold back into the bag. No wash, no drying time, no soggy blanket in the boot.
Indoors and out, not only out
These mats live in the living room all week. The colours are chosen to suit a home, not a camping shop. At the weekend the same mat comes to the park or the beach. One mat, two lives.
Built for outside
Outdoor-ready and UV resistant: silicone leather does not break down in sunlight the way PU leather or vinyl can, and UV causes neither cracking nor fading. The mat warms a little in the sun like anything left outside. The material is heat-resistant so that does it no harm, and the grass underneath won't burn.
Rain and dew make no difference. Damp grass does not come through. The textured underside keeps the mat in place on grass and decking.
Cleaning after a day outside
Shake off loose dirt, grass and sand. Rinse under the tap or with the garden hose if needed. Let mud dry first, then brush it off. Wipe sunscreen marks straight away with a damp cloth. For anything that stays, mild soap and water, then a day in direct sunlight. No bleach.

Will it blow away in the wind?
The Explore weighs 1.1 kg and the Gallivant 1.9 kg. Heavy enough to stay flat on grass. The grip underside helps too.
Is it safe for babies to lie on outdoors?
Yes. Certified non-toxic (OEKO-TEX Standard 100/1). The surface is warm to the touch, not cold like plastic, which makes it comfortable for tummy time and nappy-free time outside.
How does it compare to a picnic blanket?
A picnic blanket absorbs moisture, needs washing, and takes hours to dry. Silicone leather is waterproof, wipes clean in seconds, and folds into a fraction of the space.
Can I leave it outside overnight?
It will not be damaged by rain or dew. But we would bring it in to avoid it blowing away or collecting debris.
Does it get slippery when wet?
The top surface can be slippery when very wet. The grip underside stays anchored. For active play in rain, a quick wipe with a dry cloth helps.

Quiet, and made for the room
Every mat here gets bought for an indoor job first: nappy changes, the floor under the high chair, spills, glue. Outside is the second act, so the question is whether it comes back in.
Most outdoor gear cannot. It rustles whenever anyone moves and is designed for a trailhead, buckles and all. These mats stay quiet under a child rolling across them, and the two-tone colourways were chosen to sit on a dining table all year.
The familiar faults follow: thin as a tarp, tears after one use, a plastic feel, and a "waterproof" that turns out to be water-repellent. Many outdoor textiles rely on treatment finishes, and the listing rarely says what the finish is.
Silicone leather is waterproof on both faces, tested to more than 10,000 mm, wipes clean and is certified under OEKO-TEX Standard 100/1.
